All humans are going to be eliminated from the earth. The only ones that will stay are the ones that have a genetically superior race. This is the setting of Maximum Ride Saving the World and other Extreme Sports. After six human-avian hybrids escape from the place they were created, they set out to destroy their creators, and save humans. It is up to the six of them to save the world in this thrilling book by James Patterson.
Patterson has written many books for adult readers, but this series is for younger readers. He combines science fiction with mystery, to create an action packed story. The idea for this story came from two of his previous adult novels The Lake House, and When the Wind Blows.
There are a lot of things that make this book a great addition to the series. Even if you haven't read the first two books, you can understand the plot right away. The action hooks you right from the start, and you don't want to stop reading. When you think that everything is under control, something unexpected happens that adds to the suspense.
I really enjoy all of the books in the series; each one just keeps getting better. If you like mystery, science fiction, and a little humor, you will love the flock's third adventure.
I absolutely loved this one even more than the first two. We see much more of Ari, which I really liked. Since his expiration date was seen, he's going to die soon. Because of this, Max decides to take him under her wing. Now that Ari is in the Flock, the rest of the group isn't that happy. They don't understand why Max would want to help him after he tried to kill them numerous times.
The Flock splits up. Fang is in charge of one half, Max the other. Gazzy & Iggy go with Fang while Nudge, Angel, and Ari stay with Max. We get to see both of their adventures. I really like how Max decided to go to Europe.
This book was just as fun as the others. It was full of action, adventure, and humor. I can't wait to see what the Flock gets itself into next!
It was tough at first to make the big plunge and buy the new paperback copy of James Patterson's book, Maximum Ride. But, heck, how could I stomach buying a $15 used copy that might have some bobo's knowing scribble in it, with maybe a spoiler to wreck my reading experience. The new paperback did set me back a bit. Like Eric, who disclosed in his review that he mortgaged his home to buy that $120,000. Samsung 105' (or was it ") TV, I too had to wrangle a loan to pay the $5,300. price of this new paperback. My wife remains definitely miffed that we don't have credit left to get a replacement for the 82 Honda she inherited from my mom, and I do fear that I may in the future be found featured in one of Patterson's "Woman's Murder Club" mystery series, but this is (imagine 'is' in italics) Patterson, after all. It was a great read that cold wintry night. Locked outside, I comforted myself cradling my $5k paperback, but I do wish it came in a box I could live in now, like Eric with the Samsung.
